We are looking for a SUSTAINABILITY TECHNICIAN to join our SOHI team in Santarém, and we believe we will be #betterwithyou.
SOHI is the result of a joint venture between MC and Hilton Foods. Operating in Santarém since 2002, it supplies pre-packaged fresh meats. With a team of over 650 employees, we ensure daily deliveries to our stores. Committed to safety, well-being, quality, sustainability, and continuous improvement, SOHI processes high-quality beef, pork, and lamb in pre-packaged formats.
In this role, you will play a key part in promoting environmental conservation and sustainability across the organization. Your main responsibilities include:
• Environmental and Energy Compliance: Ensure all operations comply with environmental and energy regulations. Conduct regular audits, assess compliance, and recommend corrective actions when necessary.
• Environmental Data Collection and Analysis: Gather, analyze, and interpret data on environmental impacts, energy consumption, and other sustainability metrics. Use tools and software to track and report key performance indicators, ensuring informed and effective decision-making.
• Development of Sustainable Initiatives: Support the development and implementation of sustainability programs that promote resource conservation, waste reduction, and sustainable practices across operations. You’ll have the chance to propose solutions that benefit the environment and optimize processes.
• Energy Efficiency Improvement: Assess energy consumption patterns, identify areas for improvement, and propose strategies to increase energy efficiency. Participate in implementing measures to reduce consumption and carbon footprint, leveraging advanced technology and processes.
• Collaboration and Engagement with Different Teams: Work closely with internal teams and external partners to raise awareness about sustainability goals. Your effective communication will help foster a culture of environmental responsibility and encourage sustainable practices.
• Research and Innovation: Contribute to research and identification of innovative solutions to address environmental challenges, encouraging the adoption of sustainable and technological practices to drive the company forward.
• Document Management of Environmental and Energy Management Systems: Maintain and manage the necessary documentation to ensure the smooth operation of environmental and energy management systems, ensuring records and processes are always up-to-date.
What you bring…
• Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Sciences, Sustainability, or Energy Management: We seek candidates with mandatory higher education in these fields, as specialized technical knowledge is essential to developing and implementing sustainable practices and policies in our organization.
• Knowledge of Environmental and Energy Regulations: A solid understanding of national and European environmental and energy regulations is essential. The ability to identify and interpret environmental standards, understand legal requirements, and apply them to daily operations is crucial for regulatory compliance.
• Sustainability Principles and Energy Management Practices: Familiarity with sustainability principles and best practices in energy management is advantageous. Knowledge of resource conservation, energy efficiency, and waste management practices is preferred, as you will contribute to implementing measures that promote a greener, more sustainable operation.
• Project Management Knowledge (preferred): Experience in project management will be highly valued, as it aids in structuring and implementing sustainability initiatives. Understanding planning, task coordination, and outcome monitoring principles is useful for meeting deadlines and effectively executing initiatives.
