TECH LEAD QUALITY ENGINEERING PLATFORM & AI

Thank you for your interest in this opportunity! Your application will only be considered complete after completing a digital assessment. At the end of your application, and if you meet the necessary criteria for the role, you will receive an email with a link to access it. This step is mandatory, as our recruitment process is based on competency assessment.
We are a company of everyone and for everyone. At MC, we put people at the center: customers, employees, and the community. We create value together, innovate at every step, and lead closely, recognizing each person’s strengths. Different stories and ideas bring us together around the same purpose: to grow and become the best version of ourselves. Because everything we are, we achieve together.
MC Digital is the Information Technology area of MC. We are firmly convinced that technology can revolutionize the retail sector, bringing more convenience and exceeding customer expectations. In this context, we are focused on leveraging Artificial Intelligence in our products and technological systems, contributing to accelerating MC’s digital transformation.

We are looking for a Tech Lead — Quality Engineering Platform & AI to join our Dev Platforms team at MC Digital, and we believe we will be #betterwithyou!
What we expect from you…
• Roadmap and delivery — define the roadmap for QA platforms and tools, prioritize, and be accountable for milestones, adoption, and ongoing operation.
• Hands-on engineering — write code daily, design architecture, conduct code reviews, and solve the most complex technical problems.
• Technical leadership of 2–3 engineers — provide technical guidance, mentorship, and define the team’s engineering standards.
• Platforms and frameworks — reusable testing frameworks (E2E, integration, contract), CI/CD pipeline blueprints in GitHub Actions with pre-configured quality gates, internal tools, and dashboards.
• Performance, stress, and chaos engineering — platform-level performance/load testing as a service, structured stress testing practices, and the introduction of chaos engineering (frameworks, experiments, game days, safety mechanisms) integrated into pipelines and supported by observability.
• AI in QA practice — design and build specialized agents (test generation, coverage analysis, flakiness detection, failure triage), code skills/playbooks for Copilot and Claude Code, integrate assisted test generation into development workflows.
• Codified guidelines — define Quality Engineering guidelines and encode them into tools, templates, linters, and agents rather than passive documentation.
• Enablement and metrics — support teams in adoption, instrument quality and resilience metrics (DORA, defect escape rate, MTTR, SLO compliance), and produce actionable insights.
What you bring…
• ~10 years in QA/SDET, with substantial experience building frameworks and tools.
• Builder mindset and internal product focus; comfortable owning roadmap and delivery.
• Strong software engineering skills — design, clean code, architecture.
• Modern testing frameworks — E2E and integration (Playwright, Cypress), contract testing (Pact), and support for unit testing (xUnit/NUnit) via templates and agents.
• Hands-on performance and stress testing (k6, JMeter, Gatling) — methodology, baselines, pipeline integration.
• Chaos engineering — principles (hypothesis-driven, blast radius, steady state), tools (Chaos Mesh, Litmus, Azure Chaos Studio, Gremlin), and operational practice.
• Advanced CI/CD, ideally GitHub Actions.
• Assisted generation (Copilot, Claude Code) and, ideally, building agents/skills.
• DevOps/DevSecOps and observability (OpenTelemetry).
• Familiarity with the organization’s tech stack (.NET, React, Kubernetes, microservices, event-driven).
• Hands-on leadership of a small team — technical guidance and mentoring.
• Ability to influence Principals and Product Tech Leads without hierarchical authority.
• Clear technical communication, structured thinking, and pragmatic incremental delivery.
• Skills in Artificial Intelligence.
What we offer…
• Meal allowance on Dá Card;
• Telecommunications plan with voice, data, and equipment (for permanent employees);
• Flex it Up program — extra days off, unpaid leave, flexible work model (where applicable);
• Health and life insurance (for permanent employees) with the possibility of extending health insurance to family members under advantageous conditions;
• Flexible benefits program (where applicable);
• Onboarding and initial training plan, continuous training platform, and financial literacy program;
• School awards and merit scholarships for employees’ children, as well as holiday programs during school breaks;
• Baby welcome kit;
• Internal mobility programs to promote talent;
• Flu vaccine including administration (voluntary uptake);
• Somos Sonae program — psychosocial, financial, and legal support for employees;
• Ergocoaching sessions;
• Mental health promotion programs and nutrition consultations;
• Discounts and partnerships program with more than 300 brands;
• Free coffee and fruit at the workplace;
• Competitive salary;
• Collaborative and dynamic work environment.
