Thank you for your interest in this opportunity! Your application will only be considered complete after completing a digital assessment. At the end of your application, and if you meet the required criteria for the role, you will receive an email at your registered address with a link to access it. This step is mandatory, as our recruitment process is based on competency assessment.

We are a company of everyone and for everyone. At MC, we place people at the centre: customers, employees and the community. We create value together, innovate at every step and lead with proximity, recognising each individual’s strengths. Different stories and ideas bring us together under the same purpose: to grow and become the best version of ourselves. Because everything we are, we achieve together.

So, join us!

At MC Digital, we believe technology and data have the power to transform the retail sector, creating smarter, more personalised and more efficient experiences for our customers and business partners.

We are looking for a Senior Product Manager to lead the creation from scratch of our new Self-Checkout (SCO) system — a core product for store operations, with direct impact on customer experience, operational efficiency and the evolution of our retail model. We believe we will be #betterwithyou.

This is not a maintenance role. It is a clear mandate to define the vision, functional architecture and rollout strategy of a complete SCO ecosystem, integrating hardware, software, payments, fiscal compliance, anti-fraud and central platforms.

The challenge…

You will take end-to-end ownership of building a modern, scalable and cloud-ready Self-Checkout system, ensuring:

  • Definition of product vision and strategy aligned with business goals;

  • Design of functional architecture and evolutionary roadmap (MVP → scale);

  • Integration management with core systems (POS, payments, pricing, promotions, loyalty, ERP);

  • Definition of requirements for critical components:

    • Checkout UX/UI

    • Payment management

    • Loss prevention and anti-fraud controls

    • Remote monitoring and analytics

    • In-store operational support tools

  • Structuring the rollout model, pilot phase and industrialisation;

  • Continuous performance evaluation (operational and experience KPIs).

You will have direct exposure to executive stakeholders and real responsibility over structural product decisions.

We count on you to…

  • Lead the product end-to-end: discovery, definition, delivery and scale;

  • Work closely with Operations, IT, Engineering, Finance and external partners;

  • Prioritise the backlog based on measurable impact (ROI, efficiency, NPS, shrinkage);

  • Ensure alignment between technical teams and business stakeholders;

  • Define clear success metrics and monitor live performance;

  • Make tough decisions on build vs buy, architecture and roadmap direction.

So, bring with you…

  • +5 years of experience as a Product Manager/Owner with end-to-end responsibility;

  • Proven experience with complex products, ideally in retail, payments, transactional systems or omnichannel platforms;

  • Strong analytical capability and data-driven mindset;

  • Experience working in agile environments (Scrum/Kanban);

  • Strategic thinking and systemic vision;

  • Experience in technology integration contexts (highly valued);

  • Ability to influence and manage multiple stakeholders;

  • Experience with Self-Checkout, POS or in-store systems (highly valued);

  • Knowledge of payment methods and fiscal flows (highly valued);

  • Experience in large-scale digital transformation projects (highly valued);

  • A builder mindset — comfortable creating structures, processes and products from scratch (highly valued).

Expected impact

Within the first 12 months, we expect:

  • MVP defined and implemented in pilot;

  • Structured roadmap for national expansion;

  • Scalable technological foundation prepared for future evolution;

  • Clearly improved operational and customer experience KPIs.

What we offer…

  • Meal allowance via Dá Card;

  • Telecommunications plan with voice, data and equipment (for permanent employees);

  • Flex it Up Programme — extra days off, unpaid leave and flexible working model (where applicable);

  • Health and Life Insurance (for permanent employees), with the possibility of extending Health Insurance to family members under advantageous conditions;

  • Flexible Benefits Programme (where applicable);

  • Onboarding plan and initial training, continuous learning platform and Financial Literacy Programme;

  • School Awards and Merit Scholarships for employees’ children (mainstream and inclusive education), as well as holiday programmes during school breaks;

  • Newborn Kit;

  • Internal Mobility Programmes;

  • Flu Vaccination Programme (voluntary participation);

  • Somos Sonae Programme, offering psychosocial, financial and legal support;

  • Ergocoaching sessions;

  • Mental Health Promotion Programmes and Nutrition Consultations;

  • Discounts and Partnerships Programme across more than 300 leading brands;

  • Free coffee and fruit at the workplace;

  • Competitive salary;

  • Collaborative and dynamic working environment.
