We are looking for an Innovation & Experimentation Specialist to join our Labs & AI Transformation team, and we believe we’ll be #betterwithyou!

 

You will be responsible for…

  • Identifying new technological solutions or concepts (through events, communities, accelerators, incubators, reports, research, etc.) that add value to internal processes or to the customer experience;

  • Managing initiatives within the technological experimentation funnel – examples include: shelf monitoring using computer vision or smart shopping carts;

  • Managing Proofs of Concept and Pilots, ensuring all stages are covered – from idea to execution and conclusions – including, among others, initiative management, legal and security validations, budgeting, stakeholder alignment, and results analysis;

  • Contributing to complementary initiatives such as the Tech Sandbox experimentation lab, The Retail Hack hackathon (https://theretailhack.mc.pt/), Caixa Central blog/podcast (https://caixacentral.mcdigital.tech/), or other projects under the team’s responsibility;

  • Encouraging and actively participating in knowledge exchange with relevant entities (technology partners, non-competing retailers, etc.);

  • Maintaining close ties with the startup ecosystem, academia, and the technology world;

  • Promoting a culture of experimentation and innovation throughout the organization.

 

What you bring with you…

  • A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree, combined with experience and ease in navigating the technology landscape — it is essential to understand new technologies, how they work, and how they can generate value for our processes or customers;

  • Knowledge of innovation methodologies (Design Thinking, Prototyping, Lean Startup, Customer Development, etc.) – we value a fail-fast and minimum viable product approach: learning as much as possible with minimal effort;

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills – communication and empathy are key to succeeding in this role;

  • Agility and comfort with uncertainty – our plans and priorities change frequently. This is not disorganization; it’s adaptation to reality;

  • A proactive, hands-on attitude – we don’t stop at theory; we move forward and test;

  • Natural curiosity about new technologies and a constant desire to learn – what we know today will be outdated tomorrow;
