Public Affairs Advisor

Purpose of the Role:

The advisor will be responsible for monitoring the evolving political and legislative landscape — both in Portugal and at the European level — and translating this complexity into clear insights and actionable recommendations for Sonae’s businesses. This role includes supporting the preparation of internal briefings and strategic guidance, coordinating input from different business units, and contributing to the development of Sonae’s positions on key issues.

This position is well-suited for someone who enjoys connecting the dots, thinking critically, and working collaboratively. The team is small, agile, and hands-on — working closely together and across the organization.

Key Responsibilities:

• Monitor and analyse political, regulatory and policy developments
• Identify risks and opportunities for the Group and its businesses
• Draft briefings, position notes, and internal communications
• Support the preparation of contributions to public consultations and other processes
• Help articulate strategic positions in a clear, structured and relevant way
• Foster knowledge-sharing across different teams and areas

Main Requirements:

• 3 to 5 years of experience in public affairs, policy analysis, institutional relations, regulation, or a related field
• Higher education in Law, Political Science, International Relations, Economics, Public Administration or similar
• Strong analytical and writing skills, with attention to detail and clarity
• Interest in the intersection between public policy, regulation and business
• Fluency in Portuguese and English (written and spoken)
• Ability to prioritise, work independently and manage multiple topics
• Team spirit and openness to learning from different areas

Work location:

Porto. Hybrid mode (following the company policy: 3 days at the office).
