What you will do

In this role, you’ll often be the person who connects the dots across different data sources—spotting what’s missing, identifying inconsistencies, asking smart questions, and constructively challenging assumptions. You’ll translate complex information into concise commentary for Board and ExCom materials, communicating with impeccable written English and a pragmatic, transparent tone.

You’ll work hands-on with Excel (other analytical tools like Power BI, Tableau, or similar, will be valued), structure analyses, project scenarios and business plans, and turn numbers into simple, meaningful messages for decision-makers.

Where you fit in

You’ll join the Business Performance Management team, reporting directly to the CFO, and working closely with finance teams in France, Italy, Spain, and other markets. This is a high-exposure role that will give you a deep understanding of the business and the opportunity to influence key processes such as 5-year strategic planning, budgeting, monthly operational meetings, group-wide performance management initiatives.

You’ll be part of a diverse, international environment where your insights will have a tangible impact across the organization.

This role is based in Porto, with regular interaction with teams across multiple countries.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Financial Planning and Analysis: financial planning, budgeting, and forecasting activities. Analyse and systematise information from different sources, identifying trends, and providing insights and recommendations to support strategic decision-making.

 

  • Performance Monitoring: monitor KPIs and financial metrics to assess the overall financial health and performance of our different businesses. Understand variances against budgets and targets, identify areas of improvement or concern, and collaborate with stakeholders to implement corrective actions. Follow the strategy and financial plans execution.
  • Financial Reporting: prepare monthly reporting to Sparkfood ExCom and Board. Prepare support information report for Sonae centralized teams (planning & control, tax, accounting, …).

 

  • Business Partnering: collaborate with various stakeholders, including Sparkfood senior management and Sonae Holding teams. Act as a trusted advisor to Sparkfood CFO and help Sparkfood business units with different analysis and support to decision making.

 

  • Process Improvement: contribute to continuously improve financial processes and systems to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and transparency. May be involved in implementing new financial tools, technologies, or methodologies to streamline operations.

 

Main requirements

  • Hands-on and action-driven, ready to work on a lean organization with a roll-up your sleeves attitude (no direct reports expected in the short to medium term);
  • Great sense of responsibility and ownership (autonomy is strongly encouraged, and expected);
  • Intellectual curiosity and critical thinking (consistently ask & answer the question “so what?”);
  • Proactivity (you’ll need to build tools, models, processes from scratch);
  • Ability to translate complex information and data into clear insights and business implications
  • Problem-solving and data-driven mindset;
  • Ease of communication and interpersonal relationship skills (including with different cultures/nationalities);
  • Minimum 5 years of experience within Corporate Finance, Management Consulting, Planning and Control or Audit functions (past experience in management control functions will be valued);
  • Advanced/native-level English proficiency (mandatory); (at least) intermediate level of Spanish; knowledge of other languages will be valued including German, French and Italian;
  • Strong knowledge of MS Office tools, particularly Excel (advanced level) and PowerPoint.
