To join our Sonae Data Team at the Holding Office, we are currently looking for a:

PMO

Sonae Data is a brand-new unit within the Sonae group, bringing together data from across the group’s diverse businesses—think supermarkets, electronics, financial services, telecom, shopping centers, and digital platforms. The goal? To turn this data into valuable products and services, first for the group’s own companies, and later for the broader digital and AI-driven market.
 

We’re looking for a PMO who will works directly with the Head of Sonae Data to oversee the full lifecycle of projects, drive strategic communications, and ensure seamless stakeholder engagement. You’ll manage the Project Management Office (PMO) for all Sonae Data initiatives—including data product development, AI adoption programs, innovation scouting, and internal process improvement projects.

The PMO will coordinate cross-functional interactions, track demand forecasts and track health of projects, and work along side the Head of Sonae Data, the Head of Data & Analytics and the Head of Data & Analytics Technology to engage Sonae Data and both internal and external stakeholders. 

Core Responsibilities:

Leading the PMO and Oversight of Projects  

• Project Coordination: 

• Oversee the planning, execution, and monitoring of all Sonae Data projects, ensuring alignment with strategic objectives. 

• Coordinate with various project managers responsible for distinct data product projects (including data product design, development and publication) as well as broader initiatives like AI adoption and process innovation. 

• Process & Budget Management: 

• Develop and maintain robust PMO processes, including project status tracking, risk management, and issue resolution. 

• Define project budgets, monitor expenditures, and ensure projects remain within financial targets. 

• Formalize business cases for projects to secure the necessary approvals and funding. 

Communications & Stakeholder Engagement 

• Internal & External Communications: 
• Serve as the point of contact for all Sonae Data communications, ensuring consistent messaging across stakeholder groups. 
• Manage the documentation and tracking of demand forecasts, project health, and progress reports. 

Main requirements:

Education

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Business Administration, Project Management, Data Analytics, or a related field. 

Project Management Expertise

• Proven experience in managing complex projects and coordinating PMO functions, ideally in a data-driven or digital transformation environment. 
• Familiarity with project management methodologies (e.g., Agile, Scrum) and tools (e.g., MS Project, JIRA, or similar). 

Communication & Stakeholder Management

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a proven ability to translate technical concepts for diverse audiences. 

• Demonstrated experience working with cross-functional teams and managing stakeholder relationships at various levels of an organization. 

Analytical & Organizational Skills 

• Strong organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously and meet deadlines. 

• Detail-oriented with a solid understanding of budgeting, resource allocation, and process optimization. 

Innovation & Change Leadership

• A proactive “can-do” attitude with a willingness to experiment and drive continuous improvement. 

• Experience supporting innovation initiatives and managing change in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. 

Work Location:

• Hybrid work model
• Role based in Oporto (preferably) or Lisbon
• If based in Lisbon, regular travel to the Oporto headquarters will be required.
